Maru Serrano is a Body-Centered Counselor, Certified Hakomi Practitioner and Teacher and Guild-Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Teacher.
She was a student and professional training assistant to Ron Kurtz, the creator of the Hakomi method, for more than 12 years. She brings 25 years of experience training and working with a variety of sensorimotor oriented therapeutic modalities and art forms. Currently refining her practice under the guidance of Donna Martin and Georgia Marvin.
Maru’s somatic approach with her clients is especially helpful in relationship-building, self-development and decision making. She also has extensive experience working with survivors of trauma and developmental trauma.
Her mindfulness-based somatic approach is significantly effective for long lasting transformation, improvement in areas you want to focus on or developing a broader sense of enjoyment by learning to be more engaged in the world.
She completed the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program under the educational direction of Dr. Frank Wildman. Currently she pursues regular advanced supervision with both Jeff Haller and Sherry Fields.
She has also completed studies and graduated in the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy approach under the guidance of Pat Ogden, Kekuni Minton and Ame Cuttler. She brings her inclusive, non judgmental presence, mindfulness and joy to all areas of her life through zen practice, mothering, dance, the visual arts, gardening and cooking fabulously nurturing meals.
Maru is available for individual sessions by appointment as well as supervision, workshops and group presentations.
